Teignmouth’s known as being the place that was the last successful foreign invasion in England, which left the town utterly destroyed, the only surviving structure was St James’ Sandstone tower, which dates back to the 12th century. If you want a more comprehensive and detailed history, we recommend visiting the Teign Heritage Centre.
